Garage Floor How-To
If you are looking for information and products to improve your garage floor, you are in the right place. We began marketing our acid-replacement products to concrete professionals only at first, but we had some inquiries from homeowners who wanted to try our products on their garage floors, so we are including this page for their benefit. If you are preparing for a similar job, we recommend three important steps:
- Clean the concrete surface
- Etch it
- Paint it with a two-part epoxy paint
Clean
If you are dealing with a newly constructed concrete floor, you may only need to sweep it thoroughly several times to remove loose dust. Older homes will require more work, especially if they have oil and grease deposits from vehicles and/or mildew present. All residue must be thoroughly removed. If you are trying to remove oil and grease, use our product Multi-D. If you are removing mildew, use our product Amaze-zyme. A dirtier-than-normal two-car residential garage can be thoroughly cleaned with a gallon of either product, with some left over for other jobs around the house.
Etch
Read and follow our concrete etching tips.
Paint With Two Part Epoxy
Go for the longest lasting surface available. It costs more to buy epoxy, but you save money compared to repainting. Also, the coverage is better. The average two car garage can be painted with a single order of one package, which makes 1.66 gallons of total useable paint. We carry an outstanding Non-Flammable Light Grey Two Part Epoxy Paint for your convenience.
